Built in four layers.

What it is made of

Built in four layers.

Orthopedic comfort comes from how a bed is built. A memory-foam topper on a high-density base. Bolsters that keep their shape. A canvas cover that survives the washing machine. These specifications are still being refined.

01

Chrome-plated steel frame

A solid tubular steel frame with a mirror-polish chrome finish. Rounded, seam-free edges so it stays comfortable to lean against and easy to wipe clean.

02

Memory-foam comfort topper

A 4 to 5 cm layer of orthopedic memory foam on top. This is the layer that relieves pressure on joints.

03

High-density base that will not sag

An 8 cm solid high-density slab underneath, so the memory foam stays supported and the bed keeps its shape.

04

Heavyweight canvas cover

10S cotton-polyester canvas at 350 to 400 GSM, the weight you would expect from furniture. Fully removable over concealed zippers and machine washable at 30°C.

05

Bolsters that hold their shape

The raised sides are filled with shredded high-density foam and deliberately overfilled, so they keep their shape over time.

Questions, answered

Answers about this phase.

01What stage is OMAIA at right now?

In development. Prototypes are being tested with dog owners and we are still refining materials, proportions and the colour range. There is no launch date yet, and nothing is for sale.

02What happens when I share my colour preference?

No payment is taken and you commit to nothing. We note your colourway, keep you posted as development progresses, and let you know before the first run opens to everyone else.

03Why does my colour preference matter?

The first production run is limited, so the colour mix is a real decision. Your choice tells us how much of each colourway to make instead of us guessing.

04Which dogs does it fit?

OMAIA is designed for small to medium sized dogs, at any age. The bed measures 90 × 60 × 35 cm, with a 90 × 60 cm lying area. Final outer dimensions including the bolsters are still being confirmed. If you want to know whether it will suit your dog, email hello@omaia.nl with their breed and sleeping position and we will tell you honestly.

05What are the specifications so far?

The bed measures 90 × 60 × 35 cm, with a cushion roughly 12 cm deep: 4 to 5 cm of orthopedic memory foam on an 8 cm solid high-density foam base. The cover is 10S heavyweight cotton-polyester canvas at 350 to 400 GSM, fully removable over concealed zippers and machine washable at 30°C. The cushions sit on a metal frame and are held in place with rust-proof stainless steel snaps. It ships in a protective bag. Five colourways are in development. These details can still change while we develop.

Which one would you choose?

Tell us your colourway. It shapes what we build, and it puts you first in line when the first run opens.

We're Philip, Jorrit and Tom, based in Amsterdam. We started Omaia with a simple premise: a dog bed should be built the way furniture is built. Real steel, structural foam, and materials that last.
